Read about the persecuted church
Alan LeStourgeon was born in Manhattan, Kansas in 1960. His family moved around quite a bit and they finally moved to the Melbourne, Florida area in 1968. Alan had a very moral upbringing but not a Christian one. His first serious introduction to born-again Bible believing Christians was in the early 80's when, although not a Christian, he became the drummer for a Christian rock band. After playing drums with several local bands and dabbling in the New Age movement for several years he joined the Amway business where he found out he just couldn't get away from "those Christians." He didn't get rich in the earthly sense in Amway because the Lord had other plans. On April 7, 1991 he surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Alan has now been a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for 12 years. He met his wife Jean in the singles group at Covenant in 1992 and they were married on September 10, 1993. He has been a small group leader on and off for 7 years and is the drummer for the Covenant praise & worship band.

One of Alan's passions is computer-generated art. He believes the computer is just another tool as was the paintbrush and pallet of the great masters and is excited to see what others are doing with digital art. Alan embraces new and exciting technology, "You can't stand in the way of technology. We can embrace it, or let it run us over. We as Christians should have a leading role in the technological arena. The world is going to use it for their benefit, we should use it to benefit God's kingdom."

Alan presently works for BellSouth Advertising and Publishing as a Graphic Artist designing yellow page advertising and feels very blessed to have a career that he really enjoys. Having made a career change after 17 years in electronics at Rockwell/Collins he is self-taught in his new field. He is continuing to learn new software as he puts together ChristianDiscipleship.com. His favorite software is Photoshop 6, Illustrator 7, GoLive 5, Bryce 4 and a new program from Adobe: LiveMotion.

Jean LeStourgeon was born in Bangor, Maine and grew up in a Roman Catholic, working class family. They drifted further and further from the church as she grew older. By the time she was in junior high school, God had become a thing of her past and she began to live her life, "according to what was right in her own eyes."

In 1980 she received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maine at Orono. During her college days she began working with severely and profoundly mentally retarded children in a cutting edge residential program in Bangor. However, about a year after graduation, she decided to follow her dreams of moving to Florida and pursuing a Master's degree. A few years later she earned her MA in Counseling from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

While in Orlando, Jean continued for a time to work with the mentally handicapped. However, due to discouragement and frustration with the system in Florida she decided to make a career move. She transitioned to the high-tech industry, starting out as a technical recruiter and later moving into human resources management.

Though professionally successful, her personal life was another story. It was through a series of personal trials and tribulations that Jean began to return to her religious roots. With nowhere left to turn, she began to pray and to seek God to help her make sense out of her life. Initially, due to her strong curiosity in the occult, she became involved in a new age church. However, once Jesus made Himself real to her and she committed herself to Him, He led her out of the occult and into a mainstream Bible teaching church.

It was at this transition point in her life that she met her husband Alan and felt led by the Lord to begin a career in counseling. Her ultimate desire was to become accomplished enough in the word of God to assist people in applying the scriptures to problems of daily living. As she pursued the study of the scriptures over the years, she developed a great desire to teach the scriptures in a way that not only displays the beauty of Christ, but also reveals the practical application the scriptures have for our daily lives. After six years of working in secular counseling agencies, Jean felt called to pursue a private counseling practice where she now provides Biblical counseling to children, women, families and couples. She also teaches women's Bible studies through her church.
