As we have seen from yesterday's devotional, the Spirit of Christ in us bears predictable fruit. The Holy Spirit is not only the Spirit of adoption but He is also the Spirit of mortification. One of the ways the Spirit works in us and bears witness to us that we are God's children is the mortification of sin. After all, He is the Holy Spirit and if He lives in you, you can be sure that He will transform you ethically and morally. The Spirit works in conjunction with our will to deliberately and methodically put to death the misdeeds of the body. We must cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and act on the desire for holiness that He imparts to us. Thank God today that He has given you His Holy Spirit to lead you into paths of righteousness.
