WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDEROUS CROSS

For the month of November we will be meditating upon the famous hymn by Issac Watts, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.

Personal Reflection And Meditation

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Scripture memorization (read, write and repeat):
Philippians 3:7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.

Bible Study
Read the following scriptures: Colossians 2:13-15, Philippians 3:4-9. Name at least 4 things that were accomplished for you through the cross of Christ according to Colossians 2:13-15.

What kinds of things could Paul have boasted about? What kinds of things are you tempted to boast about? Instead of boasting about his accomplishments what did Paul do with them?

What was most important to Paul? Consider honestly what is most important to you?

What did you learn about the character, plans or purposes of God through this study?

How do you believe the Lord is speaking to you through this study?

What adjustment in attitudes, beliefs or actions is God calling you to make?

Take these things to God in prayer.
